Pool/Backyard Safety Standards to Adhere to
Hosts at the Resortifi should ensure to abide by the following standards for the safety of themselves and their guests.
Water Safety Guidelines for Hosts
- Pool maintenance & cleaning chemicals - Use chlorine carefully to kill waterborne bacteria and parasites. Keep all chemicals away from the pool/backyard area.
- Keep First aid kit for emergencies as well as portable telephones, US Coast Guard approved life jackets, throwable life preservers (ring buoys), reaching poles, a shepherds hook and scissors to cut hair, clothing or a pool cover.
- Ensure that the pool/ backyard address is posted in the pool area in case of an emergency, as the Guest will need to be able to give the address to First Responders.
- Ask Guests to be responsible for children and keep them under their constant supervision. Ask Guests to designate an undistracted adult (a Water Guardian) to always watch children. You can order Water Guardian badges for your Guests from our water safety partners at Colin’s Hope.
- Signage - Post the signage showing pool safety rules, areas for Guests to avoid, or other instructions to keep Guests aware and safe.
- The pool area should be secured with a fence that has a self-closing, self-latching and locking gate. Keep these areas closed.
- Guests should remove all toys from the pool/backyard when they are finished.
- All pool drains should be VGB compliant and checked frequently to ensure the covers are unbroken and not cracked or missing screws
